I know not much about thee,
But I've seen the portrait of you in the state,
House...hung aloft dressed cap-a-pie,
In elastic attire fitted with red cape—
Yet I—I know your secret identity,
How incognito you burden this town's weight.
You walk amongst us in daylight,
Blending in even though you're so beautiful—
Still, no one knows you're the vigilante,
That protects us when at night
Our children to bed we cradle—
The girl of Antaean might,
Grecian lore long fabled.
For so long you've kept qui vive,
I wonder how you find time for yourself,
Aside from that devoted to guarding
The denizens of this hapless city—
You, too, deserve to be happy,
And a love that makes your heart melt...
For once, manumit thyself of this rotary,
See how it feels to be saved by someone else...
I thank you for being alive,
For being our—my...shadow,
When collusive forces contrive,
To make my life morose—
However, now is your time,
To experience a life we all too well know;
A part of you longs to be free on the inside—
I can free her tonight...
Let me be your hero.
